The Interdisciplinary Research Laboratory Life Cycle Assessment and Circular Economy (LIRIDE) research focus on life cycle assessment and its applications in several sectors. Internationally recognized for its work and its previous years of applied scientific research, the LIRIDE research group supports the industry, SMEs, governments, and organizations in their commitment to true sustainable development supported by life cycle assessment and the circular economy. Located at the University of Sherbrooke (Canada), LIRIDE offers a friendly and professional working environment. Hereby, LIRIDE is seeking applications for the following position.

About the role

This research professional position is part of LIRIDE's partnership research activities with multiple organizations outside the university research community. The increasing number of partnership activities of the laboratory raises the need to recruit an additional research professional who will act as a life cycle assessment (LCA) analyst on many projects. The projects focus on life cycle and environmental impact assessments (LCA), but can be complemented with life cycle costing assessments (LCCA). The applications are multiple and very diversified, ranging from assessing the sustainability of various processes, products, or services to supporting the integration of eco‑design in our partners’ activities. The sectors involved include, in particular, building, energy, and electronics.

Qualifications

​Your qualifications must include:​

​

  • Bachelor's degree and any advanced degree in engineering or equivalent

  • Have performed full LCA in accordance with ISO 14040-44 standards

  • Knowledge of carbon footprint methods

  • Advanced knowledge of LCA software and databases such as SimaPro, OpenLCA, and Ecoinvent

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint

  • Fluency in French and English (oral and written)

  • Superior writing skills

  • Experience in more than one of the following areas: LCA, LCCA, Ecodesign, and Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)

  • (Major advantage) Skills and a strong interest in computer programming (Excel VBA, Python)

Daily work

  • Contribute to LIRIDE's research activities and participate in various research projects such as: eco-design, environmental product declaration (EPD), environmental and economic life cycle analysis. The work will be carried out within an interdisciplinary team.

  • Write reports and presentations in a format adapted to the needs of the research partners and intended for internal and external audiences.

  • Develop customized solutions and tools for implementing life cycle assessment and eco-design.

  • ​Provide occasional travel for meetings with partners.
